#testb4taste training on social transformation in Moi University - Eldoret

We held a training on Behaviour chnage for social transformation at Moi University Main Campus Eldoret on 12th and 13th June 2015 in collaboration with Kenya Redcross Moi University Chapter.
The two day training was aimed at helping the students/youth make responsible informed choices in life.
This was majorly based on behaviour, attitude and Sexual reproductive health.
It is evident that lack of mentorship and continued moral support is one of the major factors that contribute to wrong choices among youth, especially those in higher institutions of learnig.
#itsourresponsibility to bridge this gap of knowledge that is not fully tackled due to the academic pressures in colleges and Universities.

#testb4taste Online Youth campaign against New HIV infections

INTRODUCTION
The #testb4taste is an online youth campaign initiated by Magero Deogratius , founder of The UniLife Movement as a platform to sensitize the youth today to get tested and know their HIV status to attain ''Zero New Infections".

Violet Ayoub of  Vision for Youth TZ

It has been noted that even with the increased supply of contraceptives, most especially the condoms, there is still a gradual rise in the new HIV infections daily, weekly , monthly and yearly.
In Kenya alone, it is estimated that 1.6million people live with HIV . According to The Globals Fund  there were 2.3million new HIV infections in the world in 2013.

As much as we have a perception of a decline in the number of new HIV infections annually, it is important for us to realize that away from the HIV/AIDS education at all levels, it is an individual's responsibility to get tested for HIV since 85% of infections are sexually transmitted.
As we all know, testing is the most sure way of being aware and making right choices regarding our lives in relation to sex.
The #testb4taste Campaign is aimed at educating the youth on the need to get tested for HIV and encouraging them to know their HIV status before engaging in any sexual activities.
The campaign was initiated by The UniLife Movement in partnership with Vision for Youth TZ and Tamasha Vijana TZ .

The UniLife Movement International Women's Day 2015

Annually on 8th March, thousands of events are held the world over to inspire women and celebrate achievements; all while advocating for gender equity since the early 1900s.
The 2015 theme is ‘Make It Happen’, encouraging effective action for advancing and recognizing women. The Unilife Movement intends to celebrate this year’s IWD with a focus on ‘Achieving Gender Equity through Education and Economic Empowerment’ through an interactive two day camp that will engage actors interested in women empowerment through education and economic empowerment.

The UniLife Movement
The Unilife Movement is a youth-run organization with an active membership of over 200 Kenyan youth in tertiary learning institutions; that purposes to create change in the current young generation through empowerment in leadership grounded on the principles of spirituality, service leadership and inspiration towards a stronger society. It is basically a platform through which young people interact and work towards making that needed change in society. Interactions with youth take place through talks in schools, club meetings, rallies, campaign drives, online interactions and many other avenues.

Objectives
The objectives for the IWD 2015 camp are in three fold
 • To identify common perspectives, challenges and priorities faced by the African woman in accessing education and economic empowerment.
 • To facilitate the exchange of experiences, lessons learnt and best practices of various people involved in women empowerment through education and economic boost.
 • To collectively draw up a practical strategy each participant will enforce in their respective capacity that will promote the accessibility of education and achievement of economic empowerment to the African women.

Expected value addition of the meeting
The IWD 2015 camp is expected to add value in the following aspects:
·         Assessment of the opportunities available and challenges the African woman faces in her search for education and economic empowerment.
·         Perspectives of possible avenues through which the said challenges can be addressed and opportunities harnessed for women empowerment in the African setup.
·         Analysis of current strategies being implemented by various institutions to address the said challenges.
·         Exchange of experience and lessons learnt by various actors.
